Conditions for the Supervets race on August 20 were perfect for racing with only a light wind from the south. Once again the field was robust for this time in the winter. The race was driven by the nine minute bunch namely John Hilsdon and Richard Buckwell. Meanwhile, Mel White, Barry Primmer, Ian Sumner and John Watson became one and set a good pace led by Barry. Richard and John joined the group and eventually overtook the outmarkers. John Hilsdon and Richard Buckwell once again rode away from the bunch leading to the finish line in that order. The backmarkers were unable to make up the deficit but David Pike proved his worth from scratch finishing with a new record ride.

Results:

1. J Hilsdon, 2. R Buckwell, 3. I Sumner, 4. J Watson, 5. M White, 6. B Primmer, 7. D Pike, 8. R Nicholls.

Fastest time: D Pike – 1.03.39.

Next week’s race will be a three lap handicap. Registration by 9.30 please.

A special mention to Supervet Bill McConnell who tomorrow flies out to the World Masters in Slovenia. We wish him well for both the time trial and the road race (age related). We know he will produce his best form and be very competitive.
