A great night of crit racing had by all at the Belmont crit track. Another solid field of over 30 entries.
A grades race was a tough and competitive hit out. Rick Buckwell and Andy Baker rode off the front for 5 laps or so but they started to tire one lap too early. Brad Haskett kicked first for the sprint and held off both David Newett and Paul Beretta for a great contested sprint.
B grade was a hotly contested race with a finishing average over 39km/h. There were multiple attacks most laps with no one able to get away. There was a lot of jostling for positions around the last lap. Kane Airey timed the sprint well from the last corner to take the win. Ashley Goldstraw just behind in second and Simon Whitcher third.
C and D grade started together in a big field of 16. Jessica Douglas was on the front doing a lot of work with her cornering improving after some extra practice lately. David Thornton won his first crit race with a great finish. 2nd Vic Mason 3rd Vincent Haveaux.
Chris Shay won D grade over Keith Dorling and Andy Heath.
Next week round 2 of the Clearwater crit series.
