Yesterday the Supervets returned to Paraparap for a three lap handicap race and conditions were perfect for racing. The day was sunny with a light wind from the south-west. The 7.30 minute bunch looked strong from the start and Kim Clarke and Jeremy Tatchell were showing good form. However, as the race progressed the 2 minute group was making ground on the field led by Bill McConnell and Peter Ladd. Scratch markers meantime were pushing for some recognition in search of a course record. Preparations for a strong finish was evident and newcomer scratch rider Nick Brown was pushing his bunch to feature in the finish. Meanwhile the fifteen minute bunch of Ian Sumner, Bob Osburn and John Watson had taken over the lead having absorbed the eighteen and twenty minute riders. The maintained sufficient pace to hold off the field and despite a huge effort from the chasing group the fifteen minute bunch went over the line intact.

Results: 1. I Sumner, 2. B Osburn, 3. J Watson, 4. D Jennings, 5. B Long, 6. B McConnell, 7. J Tatchell, 8. K Clarke.

Fastest time: N Brown – 1.00.29.

We welcomed new riders Bob Osburn and Nick Brown to our Supervet ranks.

Next week’s race will be a handicap event over three laps.
