Special guest appearance by John Elliott, who has a pretty impressive race resume; featured in many, many Melbourne to Warrnambool races.

Local legends aplenty turned out for Geelong Super Vets celebration of Seniors Week at the Geelong Criterium cycle race track in Belmont yesterday. One-time Warrnambool Road Race regular John Elliot, approaching 80, mingled with his 80 years-plus seniors Les Goody, Len Bent, Gil Wright, Brian Long, John Randall and Bill Mantova. All will keep a keen eye on this year’s ‘Warrnambool’, starting at Werribee at 7.30am Saturday.
Super Vet Criterium racing among 20 cyclists in three divisions followed a few warm-up laps. Carl Judd took out Group A from Laurie Fitzsimons and David Pike; Kym Clarke led home Ray Clifford and Robert Young; and breakaway Mel White held off Kent Fuller and John Randall.
