Yesterday Supervets raced over three laps of the Paraparap in warm summery conditions. A strong field of twenty riders were led away by the in form Kent Fuller and Dale Jennings. They were followed seven minutes later by Ian Sumner, Ross West, John Watson and new rider Murray Riggs. This bunch worked strongly together but did not penetrate the out-markers until the last lap. The one minute group of Peter Ladd, Carl Judd and Peter McWaters were the strongest bunch from the back marks. The five, nine and thirteen minute bunches were ineffective in challenging the leaders and the back-markers remained in arrears mounting some attempts in the last laps. The fifteen minute bunch took the lead in the last lap but continued to be troubled by the presence of Kent Fuller who they failed to drop in misery lane. Kent proved stronger in the sprint home winning from Ian Sumner and Ross West.
Results: 1. K Fuller, 2. I Sumner, 3. R West, 4. J Watson, 5. M Riggs, 6. D Jennings.
A fast time was recorded by Carl Judd of 61.44.
Next week’s race will be a handicap event over three laps. Entries by 9.30 please.
