With A grade riders seeing a little bit to much of this guy in the crits, it was time to put Paul Beretta under the GSCC microscope, with 26 questions and see what makes him tick.

Family: Partner Susie, 2 Girls, Eden and Harper and step son Ethan.

Favourite Athletes: Michael Jordan, Mark Winterbottom,
Favourite Movies: Matrix, Star Wars, American Sniper, Apocalypse Now
Favourite Music: INXS, Hilltop Hoods, Eminem,
Favourite Food: Anything made by Susie.
Childhood Ambition: To be an interstate truck driver.
Hobbies: Cars
How long have you been riding? I’ve been riding my whole life, but only competitively for 8 years.
When did you start racing? Started after I opened the shop with MTB racing.
What other sports have you been involved in? Football, Motor bikes, basketball, horses (show jumping).
Age Group and Handicap mark? 40, scratch.
Why did you join the club? Steve Young convinced me to come and give it a go with the Vets.
Do you have any goals to achieve? I’d like to win the Easter Carnival and maybe the crit series.  As long as its still fun I’ll keep trying.
What’s your greatest racing achievement? 2015 Three Peaks Challenge, completed in about 8hrs 40mins.
Riding experiences:
Best? . 2015 Three Peaks
Worst? Getting absolutely belted by Shane Miller and Steven Lane at the Easter Carnival…. twice.
What’s your favourite training or social ride? Bright to Falls Creek and return.  It’s always a challenge.
How often do you ride? Depends on how busy the shop is, post-Christmas I get to ride maybe three or four times a week, pre-Christmas I’m lucky to ride twice a week, so I usually hit form in January for crits.
Race Bike: Specialized S-Works Tarmac Sram Red

Other Bikes: Specialized Crux (CX bike), Specialized Epic (MTB) plus a few collectable bikes.
Dream Bike: Specialized S-Works Venge VIAS. The fastest thing I’ve ever ridden.
