Childhood Ambition: Car designer.
Hobbies: 1974 Leyland Marina…yeah really….one owner. Gardening, Travel the world…..I wish.
History:
How long have you been riding? Since age 10.
When did you start racing? 1996 with the Vets.
What other sports have you been involved in? Volleyball, indoor cricket.
Age Group and Handicap mark – 60-64 C grade, third scratch (wherever the handicapper puts me)
Goals:
Why did you join the club? Fitness and relieve back issues.
Do you have any goals to achieve? Not really, race as long as possible.
Your greatest racing achievement? First race win – Anzac Day handicap 1998, aggregate 2012, Jack Griffin 2014.
Riding experiences:
Best? Any sprint win. Out riding one morning along Mt. Duneed road for a kilometre with two ducks as my wingmen. (my name is Bird after all)
Worst? Riding into the back of a parked car in 2012 wearing new bifocal glasses.
What’s your favourite training or social ride? 8am Saturday to Torquay along Horseshoe Bend road.
How often do you ride? 3 times a week.
